I have just empowered my people with a competing product and a monitor that does not work.

Now look at the Polish version.

They removed mac dude's head and replaced it with a white dude's head. But they left his hand black!

British supermarket rebrands fish to spare blushes

When I first saw this headline I thought they were talking about red snapper. 'Cause who wants to go into a fish store and ask for a "big red snapper"?

Turns out it's pollack.

LONDON (AFP) - A British supermarket has rebranded a fish after shoppers said they were embarrassed to ask for it by name, it said Monday.

The humble pollack will be sold by Sainsbury's as "colin" -- pronounced "co-lan," and French for the closely-related hake -- with a limited edition in packaging inspired by abstract expressionist artist Jackson Pollock.

"It seems daft that pollack isn't more popular, particularly when it's readily available off our own coast, tastes great and is cheaper than cod," said designer Wayne Hemingway, founder of clothes company Red or Dead who designed the packaging.

"Image really is everything; so to help colin stand out on-shelf we've used bold, bright colours and a design that is cheekily inspired by another well-known pollack."

To an English ear, "pollack" sounds unfortunately like a slang word for testicles, as well being close to two other words used as insults, one of them racist.

Sainsbury's environment manager Alison Austin said the rebranding initiative would also help protect dwindling stocks of other fish which are more typically eaten as part of Britain's famous fish and chips culture.

"We want to help highlight that there are species to eat other than cod and haddock, which are just as tasty and often cheaper," she told the Guardian daily.

"Many people have said that they can't even tell the difference in taste between cod or pollack, so we urge everyone to try 'colin and chips' on a Friday," she added. Fish is traditionally eaten on a Friday for reasons originally linked to Catholicism.

Sainsbury's said sales of pollack are tiny compared to those of more mainstream fish cod and haddock -- in March it sold just 3,947 units, compared to 52,904 of cod and 98,722 of haddock.

The building going up in place of the destroyed twin towers will not be called the "Freedom Tower". Which I think was a pretty ghey name to begin with anyway.

"The Port Authority announced that the planned 1,776-foot building, now barely above its foundations, will instead be known by the same name as one of the twin towers destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks: One World Trade Center."

So, the building will basically be named after its address.

And another awesome thing.

The building's first commercial tenant is: China's Vantone Industrial Company.

Under a 21-yr deal the Chinese company will take up the entire 65th and 69th floors and part of the 64th with a business and cultural facility dubbed the China Center.

How friggin sweet is that? Nothing says "FREEDOM" like a Chinese industrial company!!

There is much whining.

"Susan Regenhard, the mother of one of the firefighters killed on 9/11, along with nearly 3,000 other people, said the Port Authority cared about marketing more than memories."

Well, duh. You can't expect a private company to go all mushy and make monuments instead money. If you want a memorial then the government should pay for the land and build the thing itself.

And one more thing:

They are called FREEDOM FRIES not french fries.

WTF is "Canadian bacon" anyway? Looks like round ham to me.

Israel is bombing the crap out of Gaza. So what's new?

How did this come about?

Well, the terrorist "government" in Gaza had finally smuggled and manufactured enough rockets to commence yet again the indiscriminate bombing of the Jewish civilian population inside Israel. Clearly, a terrorist act.

So what did the Israel do? It took steps to stop it. Economic and political pressure did not work. So what does a population do when under attack? It defends itself. So Israel starts the bombing Do they blindly fire missles into Gaza? No. They target legitimate military targets. Like say, the missile launchers. Unfortunately the asshole Hamas terrorists put thier missile launchers right beside or inside Palestinian schools and hospitals. So civilians die.

So who do the Palestinians blame? Israel of course. So let's recap how recockulous this is. Hamas fire missiles into Israel, from densly populated civilian areas, that kills Jewish civilians. Israel fights back. And they blame Israel? Cmon. Even the Muslim Canadian Congress agrees Hamas is to blame.

So all you hypocrites and cry-babies stop the blame game. Hamas is to blame.

For the record, I am non-Jew, non-religious white dude from Canada. I haven't been a big fan of Israel over the years. But this time they are perfectly correct in what they are doing. Heck, in the olden days (like as recently as 60 years ago) if this had happenned a country under attack would have simply erradicated the other. So Gaza should count itself lucky it doesn't get bombed out of existence. Like say, Dresden was, or Hiroshima, or Carthage. Then again, this crap has got to stop. Bombs away?

Still, like in 2004, I do not understand why otherwise intelligent Americans vote for Bush/Mcain. I get that rednecks, racsists, morons, old white people, etc, vote for them, they are clearly ignorant and have been conditioned from birth for this sort of thing. But if you have any sort of education, it just doesn't make any sense. The Republican party is clearly a racist, backwater group. Yet McCock still gets 56M votes! WTF?

Okay, so I watched an episode of Mad Men recently. All I can say is "meh". What's all the fuss about? I was bored out of my skull.

I've also been reading all the good press about True Blood. I watched the first two episodes. Meh. I'm kind of bored with this too.

And Fringe? Didn't really like it. But I'll give it a few more episodes.

House was good. Looking forward to Survivor (finally in HD!), The Office, 30 Rock, Dexter. And BSG in the new year of course.
